With just over 2,000 students, our district is small enough for staff and students to develop strong connections. Though our size also limits some of our resources and programs, we partner with local districts and Collaboratives to meet the needs of our students in creative ways.
We have one school per grade level:
PreK is part of the 5-12 building complex
Grades K – 2 Beaver Brook Elementary School
Grades 3 – 4 Woodsdale Elementary School
Grades 5 – 8 Abington Middle School
Grades 9 – 12 Abington High School
Q. What is it like to teach at Abington?
Abington is a tightknit, smaller community just southwest of Boston. Our team is very collaborative with significant longevity among our staff. The community has grown over the past few years due to new construction and diversity is increasing in our student population.
Q. What kind of support does Abington offer new teachers?
New teacher orientation, mentoring, coaching from evaluators, supervisors, and department heads/directors
Q. What general attributes does Abington seek in new teachers?
Caring, respectful, thoughtful, knowledgeable, sharing, collaborative, reflective, student-centered
Q. How does Abington demonstrate that it is committed to teacher diversity?
Abington has partnered with MPDE and other organizations to develop programs, practices, and strategies in our schools that promote Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) for all stakeholders. We are committed to recruiting highly qualified candidates who will meet the needs of our students, support our JEDI efforts, and strengthen our educational program by virtue of their own unique and diverse background, perspective, culture, and experience.
Q. Any tips for teachers who are interested in applying to Abington?
We post open positions on School Spring as they open throughout the year, but especially in the months of April to August.
